I had a very good experience with this bike shop. The owners are really nice and the bike I got served me well for 2.5 months without any issues. And I drove it a lot. When we picked the bike, the owner checked the brakes on one and they said they are not good enough, so they cannot rent that bike to me and sent it for repairs. I found that very reassuring and made me feel that they are reliable and care about the customers and the bikes. Communication was excellent, the price very fair. Thank you so much for the bike and the outstanding service. I will be back :)

IMPORTANT – READ THIS FIRST: In Thailand you cannot get fully comprehensive motorcycle insurance. If you damage the bike, you pay to fix it. That’s normal here, but it’s important to understand before renting anywhere. I rented a bike from City Motorcycles for 6 days and had an excellent experience. Carlo (the owner, Dutch) clearly knows motorcycles and northern Thailand very well. Communication was simple and clear, handled via WhatsApp, with straightforward instructions for what to do in different situations (breakdowns, accidents, or police interactions). I didn’t need them, but it was reassuring to have everything explained clearly. I rented a 1-year-old Honda 350 in absolute perfect condition to ride from Chiang Mai to Pai. The road is steep, twisty, and full of switchbacks — around 3 hours of fantastic riding — and the ADV 350 handled it beautifully. You could do it on a smaller bike, but if you’re used to riding, it wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable. One personal observation: parking in Chiang Mai is chaotic. With a bike in such good condition, I genuinely wouldn’t park it in a normal street car park because scratches feel almost inevitable. If that happens, it’s reasonable to expect to pay for repairs — that’s just part of renting here. What really stood out, though, was Carlo himself. When I arrived from the airport, he kindly let me store my large suitcase for free, so I could pack light and use the bike’s under-seat storage and top box for a proper mountain ride. Sitting at his desk with an endless supply of coffee, we talked through riding in Thailand, routes, and what to expect. That insight is incredibly useful if you’re planning real riding beyond the city. Police stopped me four times in six days — all friendly — and having the correct documents (international driving licence and helmet) made everything smooth. In Pai they even said I was the only rider that day who wasn’t fined. Highly recommended, especially if you plan to ride outside Chiang Mai.

If your looking to rent a motorbike in Chiang Mai then Carlo & his lovely wife at City Motorbike Rentals are the best in town. They are friendly, fair and they have great bikes at the best prices. We have been hiring bikes off them for two & a half years and I can't recommend them enough. Thank you both for everything & for all the delicious coffee & awesome chats. Gav, Emma & Lennie.

Carlo and Fon are the absolute must go to scooter rental in Chiang Mai! Everything perfect. Fair prices from the start, and super understanding, the bikes are in great condition and the communication is great. I rented a bike for a month and extended until my onward plans were clear, they were both so reassuring and pleasant. After chatting, Carlo even took me out and showed me some potential accomodation options in the neighbourhood when we first met! Complete legends. Wishing you the best and will be in touch next time I'm in Chiang mai. 🛵🪽✨️
