We had an excellent experience with Active Adventures during our trip to Ladakh. From the very beginning, they stood out for their flexibility and their ability to adapt the itinerary to our needs, always listening to us and making sure everything was well organized. We traveled to Ladakh in February 2026 with the plan of doing the standard Chadar Trek itinerary that all companies do, but shortly before starting, the local authorities banned the trek. This unexpected situation could have easily ruined the trip, but Active Adventures responded in an outstanding way. They quickly reorganized the itinerary, proposed alternatives, and ensured that we still had an amazing experience, visiting incredible sites and allowing us to still experience walking on ice. They were extremely helpful with changes to accommodations, food, and logistics, always accommodating our requests and making everything feel easy and stress-free. Throughout the trip, they consistently focused on offering us the best possible experience while always prioritizing safety, which is essential in winter conditions in Ladakh. Beyond their professionalism, the team truly acted like friends rather than just a tour company. Everyone was kind, approachable, and genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed every moment of the journey. Special thanks go to Dorjay, the head of the company, and Minjur, our guide. Both of them, as well as the drivers, were exceptional—professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive at all times. We sincerely hope to return to Ladakh one day, and without any doubt, we would travel again with Active Adventures. Dorjay inspired trust from the first contact: quick to respond, precise, able to interpret requests and provide personalized solutions. We asked him to organize a 16-day itinerary for us that would include some off-the-beaten-path destinations, including dedicated treks, and that would allow us to better connect with the local population and culture at high altitude; the outcome was very positive. He relies on a network of skilled collaborators (drivers, guides, and other local operators), who are well-trained and speak excellent English, and uses modern, well-maintained, and comfortable means of transport. He quickly handles the procedures for access permits to specific areas and facilitates initial on-site procedures (e.g., SIM cards, local cash, any medications); he knows and can guide those arriving in Ladakh in adapting to the high altitude, always carrying oxygen tanks and masks, and providing particularly helpful advice. He selects accommodations suited to the request and highlights any shortcomings (water, electricity) due to the area or the season, which the visitor should be aware of. He promptly handled a necessary change of plans due to the closure of the Khardung La Pass due to a landslide/accident. Finally, he makes payments simple and transparent (which is not a given). He helped us discover a fascinating land, a very interesting culture, and spent a very pleasant holiday in the complexity of a border region. It will be a pleasure to return... I recommend Dorjay and Active Adventure to anyone who wants to safely and personally organize an authentic and meaningful stay in Ladakh (and possibly Kashmir), immersed in the local culture and managing the high-altitude adventure with peace of mind.

Me and my daughter were in Ladakh tour for 9 days in Aug 2025 organised by Active adventures . We had wanted a tour which would have 3 days of trekking and the rest by road. Mr Thinlays Dorjay helped us by giving us a good itinerary as desired by us. He coordinated the whole trip and whenever we had any requests, he obliged and we are thankful for that. The hotels booked in Leh were very comfortable and close to Leh market which helped us explore it to our hearts content. Mr Nurboo was our driver throughout the trip. A very experienced and cheerful driver. He made us feel safe throughout, very much appreciated as we were two ladies travelling alone. Ms Dolma was our guide for the treks. She understood our potential very well and with her guidance, we were able to finish the treks comfortably, while enjoying the beautiful landscapes around us. The home stays gave us local experiences which will be cherished. I would recommend Active adventures for Ladakh tours, more so for people looking for customised trips and who would love to get to know the people of Ladakh, their way of life and experience local delicacies. We have just returned to Spain after a fantastic trip through Ladakh and Kashmir. The experience has been tremendously rewarding in every way. We would like to thank Thinlay Dorje, from Active Adventures, for organizing our transportation, accommodation, and driver for the two-week trip. The vehicle (Toyota Innova) was in perfect condition and proved to be very comfortable and safe for the journey. The drivers (we changed depending on the area) were attentive and responded to all our requests, helping us when we needed them, so that everything went smoothly and precisely. Dorje assisted us in booking the plane and train tickets we needed to complete our trip, arrange airport transfers, and obtain the necessary permits to access the most remote and restricted areas, making everything easy and straightforward. The selection of hotels that Active Adventures works with was well suited to our needs, and we had a good experience at all of them (Leh, the Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Lake Tso Moriri, the Aryan Valley, the Zanskar Valley, etc.). Dorje was always very friendly and attentive, as well as responsive and efficient in solving our problems, so I would not hesitate to recommend him to others who want to travel to Ladakh.
